The lighting design for the lobby of this iconic Daniel Burnham building highlights the lobby’s historic forms and complementary modern details while providing safe passage to all its visitors. The all uplighting scheme for the ceiling allowed for the historic ceiling to remain unpenetrated.

This 34,000 SF tenant amenity area on the 70th floor of Aon Center includes lighting schemes for a variety of space types ranging from the lobby to the library to the lounge. The overall aesthetic is one of light and air, while still allowing for a bit of drama in the illumination of the bar. The percentage of leased space increased more than 25% after the renovation of the amenity space.

UC Health was looking for a sustainable, signature expression for its new gateway building. The gossamer mesh scrim is stretched across a sculpted 3‑story frame. It mediates direct daylight and reduces interior shadows, addressing patients’ light sensitivity while offering unimpeded views out. Knowing the unique geometry of the tensile planes would be minimized if backlit, a lighting design solution was developed to illuminate the exterior with a soft grazing effect and without large fixtures that would be distracting during the day.
