Robert Shook Made an ASTC Fellow

Robert is an award-winning professional theatrical designer and founding partner of Schuler Shook, an internationally-recognized theatre planning and architectural lighting design firm.

He is also committed to educating others in the fields of theatre planning and architectural lighting design. He teaches master classes on the Athens Campus of Ohio University and regularly presents at professional conferences. He is featured in the stage lighting textbooks, Scene Design and Stage Lighting and also Stage Lighting: Foundations and Applications.

The ASTC Fellows membership category was started in 2015. The ASTC notes that ​“The Fellows membership category honors members who have rendered conspicuous service or made notable contributions to the advancement or diffusion of the knowledge of theatre consulting, or the fostering of its practical applications, and who have rendered significant service to the ASTC in multiple fashions.”

Robert has been a theatre consultant for 30 years. His past projects include the renovation of Hamer Hall in The Arts Centre Melbourne, Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Chicago, Millennium Park — Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago, and the new building for The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago.

Robert is currently busy working on concept designs for the Concert Hall at Sydney Opera House, DePaul University Music School, and a feasibility study for Roosevelt University.
