The award was bestowed for positive impact and development of the Uptown neighbourhood where Black Ensemble Theater resides in a new home for performance, arts and culture. Black Ensemble Founder and Executive Director, Jackie Taylor, accepted the award along with John Morris and Robert Shook, the architect and the theatre consultant for the new theatre.
