Jeff Knox to Present Evidence Based Lighting for Long Term Care at METROCON14

News – June 2014

Baby Boomers, the largest age cohort in memory, are expected to live longer than any generation before. What role will lighting play in design for Senior Living to help meet the needs of this aging population as many boomers face dementia and other health issues?

Jefferey Knox, IES, continues to bring to the design community better lighting ideas and solutions based on evidence. Following his popular presentation at last year’s METROCON regarding healthy” light sources, Jefferey returns this year to present Evidence Based Lighting for Long Term Care” at METROCON14 in Dallas, Friday, 15 August 2014.

In his presentation, Jefferey will explain how lighting designers can and should use evidence from the ongoing research to inform design strategies for senior living environments. As architects in healthcare design continue to innovate for the Baby Boomer population, lighting designers will be a much needed bridge” between scientific research into chronic sleep disorders and other light-affected illnesses and evidence-based interior lighting design. Jefferey transforms the current research into easily understandable and applicable design points.

This CES presentation will be held Friday, 15 August 2014, from 12:30PM – 01:30PM.

METROCON is a joint collaboration between the Texas/Oklahoma Chapter of IIDA and the Texas Chapter of AISD. This is one of the largest conferences for Interior Designers in the Texas/Oklahoma area.
