Samantha Komber

Lighting Design Intern

As a lighting design intern at Schuler Shook, Sam is adding to her knowledge of light and learning practical applications of lighting design for multiple space types.

Her enthusiasm for architecture and design began at a young age through sketching and photography. Combining that with an interest in math and science led her to pursue bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Architectural Engineering with a focus in Lighting and Electrical Systems at The Pennsylvania State University.

She has traveled abroad in China and Hong Kong to study international construction, urban development, and integrative design. Putting theory into practice, she worked with Penn State’s Habitat for Humanity Student Chapter to apply her newly acquired knowledge by helping design and build a home for a family in need.

“Schuler Shook is giving me the opportunity to collaborate with a thoughtful and talented team of professionals. Within my first few weeks, I have performed extensive energy and photometric calculations, as well as prepared fixture schedules and cutsheet packages. I look forward to continuing to have a positive impact on people’s lives through integrative and beautiful lighting designs.”
