The lobbies, bar/lounge areas, and exterior spaces contain a wide range of finishes, from wood and textile, to glazed tile, brushed metal, and stone. The lighting was designed to complement the materiality of each individual finish while providing a cohesive, unified look throughout all of the spaces.
10 & 120 South Riverside Plaza
Chicago, IL
10 & 120 South Riverside Plaza are two nearly identical office towers in downtown Chicago.
The first-floor renovations of these buildings are part of a multi-phase project aimed toward creating more amenity spaces for tenants and guests.
Within each lobby is a floating trellis above a central seating area. Care was taken to illuminate the trellis with uplights that accentuate the structure’s form and provide ambient light to the area.
Arrays of brass tubes hang above the bar in a sculptural assemblage, lit by small spotlights that illuminate the rods while avoiding glare.
The highlights of the bar and lounge areas are the abstract murals, lit from each edge to provide even illumination of the massive works of art.
