Custom sconces at the curved infusion corridor provide visual interest, separating entries to the infusion rooms. A flexible lighting solution in the infusion rooms allows patient options for the lighted environment.
Avera Cancer Institute, Prairie Center
Sioux Falls, SD
The architect’s vision statement for the Avera Cancer Institute speaks of “creating a place of hope, faith and courage” Schuler Shook worked closely with the team to develop lighting solutions that helped to create a healing environment to support that vision.
The atrium connects patients and family to nature, with an abundance of trees and a flowing waterfall. The nighttime quality of light in the atrium supports a very successful community outreach program. The atrium has become a much sought after public gathering space for weddings and meetings.
The central corridor and grand stairway connects the entry, atrium, and retail to conference and patient care areas. A sweeping light cove fills the space with light while a wash of light features patient art work at the wall
