We worked through layout options with stakeholders at the Lyric to develop the maximum comfort, sightlines, accessibility, exiting, and seat count. We also met with the Lyric’s accessibility consultant, LCM Architects, to review improvements in placement and disbursement of the accessible seating locations on all levels of the theatre.
Lyric Opera Seating Renovation
Chicago, IL
Lyric Opera of Chicago wanted to include meaningful upgrades in accessibility and seating comfort for all its patrons. We developed potential layouts that increased the row to row spacing on the main floor, developed improved sightlines by offsetting the rows to create seat stagger (where patrons are not sitting directly behind those in the row in front of them), and expanded the number of accessible seating locations throughout the hall.
The final layout includes over 3,000 new seats and revised inner main floor aisles.
