The centre was made possible by the $1.762 billion bond passed by voters in 2019. It serves as a creative home for over a dozen high schools, featuring a 1,500-seat with two balconies main auditorium, a black box theatre, visual arts and dance studios, and various production support spaces. This state-of-the-art venue allows students to experience what it’s like to perform and present their work in a professional-grade environment.
Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District Visual and Performing Arts Center
Cypress, TX
Schuler Shook is proud to have collaborated on the newly opened Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) Visual and Performing Arts Center, designed by PBK Architects. As a host for University Interscholastic League (UIL) district arts competitions, this centre was carefully designed to elevate students’ experiences in the performing and multimedia visual arts.
Theatre Planning included design services for the centre’s auditorium. This involved designing the layout, seating, sightlines, acoustics, and stage equipment to create a functional and versatile space suitable for a variety of performances, from concerts to theatrical productions.
Schuler Shook provided Lighting Design services for the lobby, auditorium, and black box theatre. Our lighting design for the main auditorium includes a dynamic colour-changing fiber optic “starry sky” system, allowing each school to customize the space with their colours. Linear fixtures embedded in the side walls also bring school pride to life, creating an environment that feels welcoming and familiar to every student.
