The design team began the process with a prototype built in the space where design ideas were tested at full scale. This approach allowed for design creativity and real-time client feedback.
Northern Trust - 333 S Wabash
Chicago, IL
The design of new office space supports Northern Trust’s evolution in organizational culture. 490,000 SF of space across 17 floors are designed with a focus on more common areas, shared spaces, and incorporation of new technology systems.
Schuler Shook created lighting schemes for common areas, open office floors, and conference rooms. Lighting for the two-story amenity floor with monumental stair balances daylight from two levels of windows with cove lighting above the central, floating ceiling element. Lighting at the bar continues the theme of floating openness. Open office floors received creative lighting touches with staggered fixtures and modern lighting styles. The project achieved LEED Silver certification.
