Schuler Shook provided theatre planning and theatre equipment design for the new facility, working with Polk Stanley Wilcox and the project team to develop the auditorium, stage, backstage support spaces, and production systems. Theatre planning addressed audience seating, sightlines, accessibility, stage and stage house configuration, control rooms, lighting positions, dressing and makeup areas, storage, and other production support spaces.
Opera in the Ozarks
Eureka Springs, AR
Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point is a new venue featuring a 300-seat theatre, lobby, green room, rehearsal hall, practice rooms, and dressing rooms. Located in the Ozark Mountains near Eureka Springs, Arkansas, the facility offers views of the surrounding valleys and hills. Opera in the Ozarks has been dedicated to training and developing young artists since the 1950s. Many of the company’s alumni have gone on to perform at the Metropolitan Opera and other major opera houses around the world.
Theatre equipment design included seating, stage rigging, curtains and tracks, orchestra pit and stage trap fill platforms, production lighting and controls, and house and general theatre lighting. The reconfigurable orchestra pit includes multiple playing elevations and removable infill platforms. The stage trap room includes removable trap platforms with and storage provided beneath the permanent orchestra stage floor.
