Palace Theatre

St. Paul, MN

Closed for thirty years, the Palace Theatre is once again thriving after an extensive renovation. Managed by FirstAvenue Nightclub, it is St. Paul’s newest concert venue.

Schuler Shook provided theatre consulting and architectural lighting design for the renovation of this 1916 vaudeville house.

The venue includes an open standing and dancing orchestra level and a seated balcony, with a total capacity of 2,800.

The project approach was not a restoration, but to freeze the space as-is and add the technical infrastructure to support live production.

The architectural lighting design highlights the found space” and is adjustable for all events to create different light qualities in the room. The facility is technically savvy to accommodate the needs of live production.

The Palace is a dynamic and unique space for the Twin Cities market.
