Palmolive Building
Chicago, IL
The developer of the prestigious Palmolive Building in Chicago desired a new exterior lighting scheme for the famous facade, as well as the return of the landmark navigational beacon atop the building. Schuler Shook’s designers were invited both to create the new exterior lighting and to replicate the Lindburg Beacon that had been operational from 1930 – 1981.
The renewed facade and beacon mast are now a stately addition to the “top” of the Magnificent Mile, and the beacon itself is once again operational.
Remaining respectful of the building’s history and mindful of the changed skyline and building use, Schuler Shook’s lighting design team presented various solutions for lighting the facade that would have minimal effect on the interior residential spaces.
