Chad Groshart, Principal Lighting Designer, joins Schuler Shook's New York office

Firm News – Feb 2025

Schuler Shook is excited to announce that Chad Groshart has joined our Lighting Design team as a Principal in our New York office.

Prior to joining Schuler Shook Chad was the principal designer for The Colorado Esplanade in Santa Monica, the Sandy Hook School in Newtown CT, the Kimmel Pavilion Hospital at NYU, the Museum of Western Australia Boola Bardip, and other notable projects.

Chad’s passion for lighting began in high school through video shoots and live production, which inspired him to pursue a degree in theatre design at Penn State. After six years working in dance, theatre, and special events, Chad expanded his focus to architectural lighting design which led him to earn a Master’s in Architectural Lighting from Parsons School of Design in NYC. Chad spent 24 years at architectural lighting firms, most recently serving as a US Director at Atelier Ten.

An active member of numerous organizations, Chad holds several certifications and remains deeply engaged in lighting education and development. He was recently reappointed to the WELL Lighting Advisory Board, where he helps promote health and well-being in global spaces. Additionally, Chad recently became a Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) through The Certified Lighting Designer Commission. A frequent speaker at conferences, he also serves as an adjunct professor of lighting at Parsons.

Chad offers exceptional knowledge and experience related to lighting and well-being in the built environment. We know that our clients will appreciate Chad’s enthusiasm and creative spirit. His dedication to both the art and science of lighting design makes Chad a wonderful addition to our team. ”
