At the baggage claim, projectors mounted within the baggage claim housing, are designed to project a water pattern on the ceiling, alluding to Minnesota’s waterways. Lighting is a dynamic part of the overall design experience of the baggage claim area, which includes a video, sound, and light show that welcomes passengers and alerts them to the arrival of their baggage.
Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport
St. Paul, MN
Collaborating with ALLiiANCE, Schuler Shook upgraded the lighting systems at the ticketing area and baggage claim of MSP Airport. At the ticketing area, the fixtures are semi-custom and span the width of the similar to the original lighting concept but with a sleek profile and crisp LED lighting. Uplighting showcases the signature ‘folded plate’ ceiling while providing task and general illumination below. Downlights create sparkle in the space.
These projects are a continuation of a long term relationship that Schuler Shook has with the Metropolitan Airport Commission (MAC). Past projects include the rotunda, retail areas, and various sculptural lighting projects.
