The Sydney Lyric is one of three Broadway touring houses in Sydney and a part of the Star Casino. Ownership saw an opportunity to reach more audiences if the theatre could be adjusted to various seating capacities to suit different productions.

Schuler Shook were commissioned to work with Stephen Found and Altis Architecture to completely redefine the Sydney Lyric Theatre auditorium into a more intimate and scalable space that is suitable for a wide range of commercial touring productions. Schuler Shook’s work began with a study for the improvement of the seating plan at the side boxes and options for a reduction wall that cuts off the rear of the main floor seating.
