Texas A&M University - Commerce has a rich history dating back to 1889, and music education has long played a part in the university’s success. The original music building was built in 1956. With the continued growth of the Department of Music, the university determined that a new state of the art building was needed now and for the future. The new 69,500 SF Music Building consists of the 530-seat Lou and Jack Finney Concert Hall, an 85-seat recital hall, large rehearsal spaces, offices, and teaching and practice rooms.
