HOTA Outdoor Stage

Surfers Paradise, QLD

The HOTA (Home of The Arts) Outdoor Stage is a new multi-use amphitheatre in the Gold Coast Cultural Precinct, a multi-year redevelopment of the Gold Coast Council’s chambers, theatre, gallery and office complex. This venue is a large proscenium stage set into an artificial hill, with a sweeping paved seating area as well as an engineered lawn, for a total capacity of 5,000 patrons.

One unique aspect of the Outdoor Stage is that it converts into an indoor venue. The proscenium opening has a 14M wide, 7M high motorised bifold door that is opened when the stage is used for outdoor concerts and closed to turn the stage into a multi-use flexible venue for cabaret, corporate events, theatre, exhibitions, weddings, and parties for up to 280 patrons.

Extensive rigging options, technical power, and temporary cable management enable the venue to be truly multi-purpose. Significant coordination was undertaken to integrate exposed technical services with the architecture to achieve a highly attractive result.
