Lighting helped achieve the primary design goals of creating a recognizable destination within a safe and welcoming environment. Indirect uplight and low glare shielded linear downlight provide a welcoming presence at the freeway level, accentuating the graceful architectural expression. At the street level, the station architecture glows as a welcoming beacon using indirect uplight, hand railing mounted concealed lighting, and low glare shielded linear downlight. The plaza is accentuated with hand rail mounted lighting at elevation changes and colour changing lighting as an accent feature on back wall, front columns and luminous light posts which demarcate pedestrian pathways. Colors gently morph to reflect each of the four seasons. Safely lighting at the plaza and across intersections is provided using higher levels of white light than at adjacent streets. The lighting elements combine to provide an inviting and functional environment that elevates pedestrian safety.
