Schuler Shook provided theatre planning services for a new 380,000 sf component of a new 2.3 million sf hotel and casino complex for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, including a 4,000-seat "headliner" theatre with permanent video displays in the proscenium walls, a 48,000 sf ballroom and a 15,000 sf junior ballroom.
The new theatre facility needed to serve as a proscenium theatre for live performance and to convert to a boxing ring configuration. Schuler Shook’s theatre planners worked with the architect to plan the space, then planned and designed a theatre seating system allowing conversion to a boxing ring configuration seating approximately 4,500 spectators. We also designed the stage lighting system, manual and motorized rigging, the cue-light system, curtains, boxing ring rigging and lighting in the theatre. We planned and designed portable lighting and hoist systems and automated lighting for both the theatre and the ballrooms.
