The refurbished bridge resting at the CTA Red Line 35th Street "El" stop carries pedestrians across the Dan Ryan expressway and connects the Illinois Institute of Technology with the US Cellular One Baseball Park. What was once a very utilitarian structure has been transformed into a stunning piece of modern architecture.

The backlighting of the transparent canopies highlights the beauty of the stainless steel structural hardware and provides the general transit lighting for local commuters, students, and sports fans using the bridge. Also, backlighting is provided for signage on each side of the bridge making an interesting backdrop for automobile commuters to enjoy as they pass beneath on the expressway.
